Genus - Fagus, Species - sylvatica

Dark purple leaves with reddish pink edges mark this tree as a beautiful color spot for the garden. It does not need the space of most European beech. A real attention getter. Needs sun for best color but will burn in really hot sun. A very slow grower. Size at 10 years is about 15 feet by 8 feet. Zone 4 to 7.
