Genus - Chamaecyparis, Species - obtusa "Torulosa"
A rare shrub with a unique point of view. Gnarled, reddish branches curl and twist to form a dense, pyramidal plant with thick, scaled dark green leaves. Some branches form "cockscombs" which adds more interest. Very slow growing. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and moderately humid atmosphere in a sunny area. Protect from extreme wind. This plant can be poodled for more effect. If not trimmed will mature to about 9 feet by 9 feet. Zone 4 to 8.
