Genus - Tsuga, Species - diversifolia
Growing slower than Tsuga canadensis, this plant forms a dense, conical tree. It has dark green foliage with silvery undersides. Spring flush is bright green. Its growth is slow so it rarely gets to its full size. It prefers the cool, partial sun of most hemlocks. This tree often forms multiple trunks. Older branches often develop an orange-brown bark. Size in 10 years is about 7 feet by 4 feet. Zone 5 to 8.
