Genus - Fagus, Species - sylvatica "Black Swan"

A very slender and graceful beech with deep purple leaves. This is a relatively new cultivar and hard to find. Considered more compact than Purple Fountain. It has a very strong leader with pendulous, swan-like, weeping branches. A wonderful, vertical focal point for small spaces. Size does depend on staking but at 10 years can get to about 10 feet by 3 feet. Zone 4 to 7.
