Genus - Chamaecyparis, Species - obtusa "Spiralis"
An architectural element for the garden, Spiralis forms a dark green mini-sculpture. It is an unusual hinoki that is a slow grower and looks good in rock gardens. It stays narrow even as it ages, forming dense, twisted clusters. It does well in containers. It is a bit harder to grow but worth the effort. Likes moist soil. Size at 10 years about 4 feet by 1 foot. Zone 5 - 8.
