Genus - Picea, Species - smithiana
The elegance of this Himalayan spruce may make some extra care worth it. It has an irregular growth pattern and the longest, softest needles of all the spruce. That said, it is not very cold hearty especially when young so should be planted in a protected area. In Spring it has large purple cones that develop 'tear drops' of resin. Size in 10 years is about 14 feet by 10 feet. Zone 6 to 7.
