Genus - Picea, Species - pungens "Hoopsii"

One of the most popular and consistent of the blue spruce. Some staking is done when young to make sure it gets a straight start but then it does well on its own. The needles are thick and sharp with a striking blue color which makes Hoopsii a real winner in the garden. It can be candled if a denser form is desired. Size in 10 years is about 10 feet by 4 feet. Zone 2 to 7.
