Genus - Picea, Species - pungens "Foxtail"
Known for its slightly twisted, bushy new growth, Foxtail has shown more tolerance for heat than other spruce. The tree got its name because the needles at the tips of the branches are shorter than those at the base, giving the branch the look of a fox's tail. It is a moderate grower and has a more open form than Fat Albert. Size at 10 years is about 15 feet by 6 feet. Zone 2 to7.
