Genus - Fagus, Species - sylvatica "Purpurea Pendula"

Slow growing, weeping tree with beautiful, cascading, purple leaves that go to the ground. It does not have a central leader so grows more into a mushroom shape. It does best in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained, acid soil (ph 5.0 to 6.5). Will not withstand wet or compacted soil. Branches are somewhat brittle. Stays small almost never over 10 feet. Height depends on staking by 3 feet. Zone 4 to 7.
